At a glance: By Mölle is a Dutch line of home goods that focuses on simplicity, quality, and natural and/or recycled materials.
Who are they? Sisters Eveline and Marianne Maat founded By Mölle in 2011. They say “We wanted to change the world and thought: ‘Let’s start with a blanket’”
What do they do? By Mölle is a home goods line that includes table linens, cushions, blankets and throws, some of which are knit out of their own innovative recycled denim and are, in our opinion, the standout pices from the line.
Where are they based? The By Mölle showroom is in a miller’s house in Hoonhorst, in The Netherlands (open to the public if you make an appointment first), next door to an old windmill which serves as a constant reminder to the founders of their values, production and sourcing methods and conscious living. Their wool blankets and linen table cloths are woven in Lithuania, the recycled denim pieces are knit in Portugal and they have a small run of Dutch wool blankets made in collaboration with a Cornish wool mill and a Welsh weaver.
Editors’ favorites from the line? The standout pieces here have to be the recycled denim ones. We’ve never seen anything like it, and we would love to get our hands on that Denim Throw.
What materials do they use? Everything they produce is made from natural materials, be it well-loved Scandinavian sheep’s wool or linen made from flax from the Atlantic coast. And of course there are the stellar recycled denim pieces, blended with recycled yarn to create a knitted fabric unlike anything we’ve seen before.
Where can I get the goods? On their website. They do ship internationally, even outside of the E.U., though at an extra charge. If you happen to be in The Netherlands (or Belgium or Switzerland), you can also find their goods in a number of brick and mortar stores.
