At a glance: House of Baltic Linen makes luxurious rustic linen pieces for your entire home, from the bedroom to the dining room and everywhere in between.
Who’s behind the brand? House of Baltic Linen is a family-run business owned by Doville Vi and her husband Erik, who emigrated from Lithuania to Victoria, Australia.
What do they do? They use high quality linen imported from Lithuania (where there’s a long-standing tradition of linen production) to make everything from bedding to table linens to kitchen and bathroom towels, and even some loungewear and throws. All of it is made by hand either in Lithuania or in Australia. In addition to their fairly extensive catalogue of products online, they will also do custom orders, like fitting sheets or covers to an odd-sized duvet or mattress. They’re even done special requests for duvet covers that button along three sides instead of just down the bottom for easy on and off (kind of genius if you ask us). The linen they use comes in various weights, resulting in different textures and softnesses, and the colors are all beautiful muted neutral tones, so there’s sure to be something for everyone there.
What materials do they use? As the name implies, House of Baltic Linen uses all natural linen, exclusively. They use different weights of linen, some natural and untreated, rough in the beginning but meant to last generations and soften over time, and some stonewashed for extra softness from the get-go. Even the lace that they use as trim is crocheted from 100% flax linen. All of it is machine washable and they even recommend drying them in the dryer, for extra softness.
Where are they based? They have their roots in Lithuania, which is where they import all the raw materials from, but they are based in the Mornington Peninsula, just south of Melbourne, Australia.
Editors’ favorites from the line? It’s the bedding that won us over immediately. We love the duvet cover in the Rustic Rough Heavy Weight, which can be used as a light blanket in the summer when you take the duvet out, and we’d combine it with the sheets and pillow cases in the softened Luxurious Linen. The pajamas and long robe are very tempting too.
Where can I get the goods? Order directly from their website, though for international orders they ask that you contact them directly (either by phone or via email) in order to discuss shipping options and costs, and make sure you get exactly what you’re looking for before you take the plunge, since international orders can be a bit more complicated and pricey. Don’t let that intimidate you if you’re outside of Australia though, they have happy customers all over the world, including in the United States, Switzerland, UK, Singapore, New Zealand and more. Also contact them directly for any special custom orders, which they are more than happy to undertake.
